“If you care about accelerating an equitable clean economy, then you need to care about STEAM — specifically, the woeful underrepresentation of women and people of color working in these industries, and the disparate access to quality STEAM education that precedes it.”

So says Danielle Boyer, who promises to be no exception. An Indigenous educator, in this GreenBiz profile, an “inventor, author and environmental activist,” who “at age 20, has already accomplished more than most adults to increase diversity, accessibility, and affordability in the STEAM education space — science, technology, engineering, art, and math.

Why is diversity in STEAM + STEAM ed important?

“If we are to leverage the full potential of science and technology to address our most pressing global challenges, the people developing these solutions must represent society as a whole.”

And that means including women + BIPOC persons the world over, to have the solutions solved for diverse peoples and have various peoples bring what they have to the table to design those solutions. As stated here, and if you’ve been reading along here at #girlfaxx, you know that “research shows having a diverse workforce drives innovation and market growth.”Read on to find out how she has reached 10,000 kids + how to support her efforts.
